Clunk from the front

Just wondering what may be going on in the front of my E53. I here and feel a clunk from both the drivers and passenger side tire when going over rougher roads. I believe it may be the control arm bushing but not sure. The X is a 2004 3.0 with 53000 miles. I have not replaced anything up front other than tires and they are new as of today and the clunk was there with the old tires. I have an extend warranty with Warranty Direct, should I just bring it in. If so they should cover bushings control arms and tie rods correct?

Thanks

Could be a couple of things. Look to the sway bar end link first as this is a common cause of the clunk. Most warranties don't cover bushings, but you have to read what's included.

I had this issue and it was a broken strut top mount.

I also have this issue, I have narrowed it down to this:
Direct BMW and Mercedes Parts and Accessories
after inspecting the CV boots; they are ok. It is item number 20. There is an DIY on this website also.

+1 on the end links. Just did my left side two weeks ago. The link didn't look too bad though (considering the loud clunk it was causing) and I was hesitating on replacing it. Glad i did!

Unless you have the bumper to bumper warranty with them that was $6k... this is considered regular maintenance and I doubt they will cover. They denied my CV boot & control arm bushings. I have major service.

I have the bumper to bumper with WD for another 45k miles or 2 years. I was only 3k for the warranty.

Take it into your indy/dealer to see what is wrong. Give them your ext warr contract # and have them contact WD. Then you will know.

Wow, 3k for b2b? Good deal. Mine was 3k just for majorcare.

Good luck.
