NEED HELP! On installing a underride gaurd on My X5

I am trying to install a underride gaurd on my X5 and am not sure how to do it. Do i need to remove my front bumper cover first or does the bumper cover need to be on the vehichle first before it is installed?
Thanks

DINANM3 can't help you, but are you installing the BMW chrome version, or an aftermarket? I would like to add this to my '05 X5.

Thanks,

I just installed mine about 3 weeks ago and might be able to answer more specific questions regarding this install.

Great! Im kindda waiting for that freezing cold weather to go away before I come back under the truck but mostly, i needed to know where that underride guard attaches to the frame. How many of these plastic shields under the car needs to be removed, cut, or drilled prior to installation, etc etc,

the guard attaches at 6 points via brackets to the X with only the removal of the bumper and a bumper support bar. there will be 4 different sections of plastic that will have to be cut out, 2 minor cuts on the bumber itself and 2 less minor on a splash guard.
