06 4.4

Hi all,

I am purchasing an 06 4.4 and I am wondering is there a big difference between the sport seat and comfort? I have had many back problems, my 04 4.4 had the sport seat and I loved it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I love the sport seats in my '06 4.4i. I've had the "standard" seat in an '04 X 3.0 for a year and they were nice but don't compare to the sport seats. I'm a tall guy 6'5" and always have lower back pain and the lumbar support is great in the sport seats. The standard seat I had did not have lumbar support. I also like the fact that I can extend the front of the seat for my thighs on long rides to give me more support.

I really like the sport seats. My wife does as well. The sport package was something she specified she wanted in the X. They are really comfortable and hold you in if you decide to do some "spirited" driving. Either these or the comfort seats are great seats. We had sport seats in our old 325 and have them currrently in the X and our M5. Just made a 1000 mile trip to San Diego and back (500 each way) in the X. No complaints or back pain at all. Could have kept driving for another couple of hours. Just reread your post. The comfort seats feel better to me. However, they don't hold you as well cornering but the seats are great. The extra canting of the seat back is NICE. Good Luck!

"Standard" seats and comfort seats are completely different items. All 4.8is' came with sport seats or comfort seats (as a no cost option). On other models both were extra charge (unless sport pack equipped=sport seats). The comfort seats have more adjustments than either the sport or standard seats, though they don't have the large bolsters or leg extensions of the sport seats. I think they have an extra back adjustment where you can make the seatback like ) as opposed to /, \, or l. Both will feature lumbar support. I have never sat on comfort seats, but have not heard any complaints about them. I love the sport seats on mine, but I'm a shorty @ 6'2".

I have comfort seats on my 04 4.4i, i think theyre great. I agree that the sport seats definitely hold you in more, however the comfort seats are really great for the back because of all the adjustments you can make

Interesting, I guess I've never seen the comfort seats.
For some reason my wife doesn't like the side/edge of the sport seat when she's getting in and out of the X. Apparently there's a hard ledge in the seat edge to keep the shape of the seat that she catches right on her, well you know what. Wonder if anybody else has that problem?
The sport seats in the M3 didn't have that.

How can I tell which are stsasndard and are comfort?

I race a 2000 Cobra R with full race seats and have no back problems. Your straped in and held secure. I dont think threre would be enough adjustability for me to be comfortable in a lazy boy... LOL

Easiest way without having one of each to compare is look at the side controls on the seat (back angle control will have 2 separate <-> controls, upper & lower). Other than that the headrests on the comfort are different shaped unless they have tv screens. Here is a pic of member TwinsPoppa's comfort seats. For comparison to standard most of these shots are those seats.

That helps a great deal Scott! TY. There is quite a great difference between the standard and a comfort seat.

To all that have offered help, TY! You folks are fantastic! I look forward to making friends with other member here. I am a member of the SVTPERFORMANCE and the folks in there are great too!

Thanks again!
