Hey guys,
I just wanted to share my experience. Currently I have upgraded my fogs and high beams to 6000k HID's.
This weekend I drove to upstate NY to a friends weekend house. There was little to no street lights so I was able to see the full affects of having the HIDs in the high beam. In a word AMAZING!!!
The lights take about 10 seconds to be at full brightness but when lit its almost like day light. I compared it to my friends Dodge RAM on the same roads and it was night and day difference (Pun Intended). The distance was almost double.
I turn them off of course when there is oncomming traffic and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that if I turn them back on within 6-8 seconds then its instantly lit to 100% brightness.
I understand that HID's are not meant to be flashed on/off rapidly and I do not use them for that. This will likely break the ballast but HID kits are relatively cheap these days so I took the risk. I do carry the halogens in the car in case of an emergency.
I would highly recommend the upgrade if your X is driven in rural dark areas often. Just make sure you put the inline cap with resistor to prevent the error on the dash.
Sorry I did not get to take pictures. Maybe next time.
Good luck.
