Tension Bushing Failure......

I replaced my tension arm bushing last weekend. However I screwed one up. When I was pressing the new bushing in, somehow the metal sleeve I was using to press the bushing ended up getting lodged in the metal sleeve of the bushing it self. I didn't realize this, till fluid leaked out of the new bushing. I replaced the lost fluid and pressed it back in. IS THIS A NO NO, do I have to get a new bushing?

of course you have to get new bushings! and if you dont preload the vehicle before tightening the bolt for that bushing you'll be up shits creek.

I would get a new bushing.

Meyle makes a better, heavy duty bushing without fluid that is supposed to last much longer than OE. I had them put on my X the last time one of my bushings sprung a leak and have been happy so far.

Hello,

I am going in today to have this part replaced. Could someone please provide instructions I can give to my mechanic about the car being "pre-loaded."

SO....got part replaced and made sure that he did the tensioning when car was on ground (didn't see him do it but he says he did).....AND i still have a shimmy at high speeds (>110km/h).

I did have a clunking before whenever I breaked and thats gone...but I have the vibration still at higher speeds. Maybe the other ball joint there? I hate these suspension probs!

Are you 100% sure that you don't have any bent wheels and that you tires are properly balanced?
