Changing the black wire mesh

Anyone change the upper and lower wire mesh for the stainless in the front bumper on an 06 4.8? If so any tips where you can buy and DIY, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Just paint yours and save a couple hundred. Go with a satin nickel finish from krylon and you'll be good to go

funny you mention that, because one part of mine has a hole, (i guess a rock went through it). are these mesh's expensive to buy, i know it involves taking off the bumper to replace them

Rock, bird, leaf, tissue paper; it's definitely not the strongest part of the X. Mine still had the bird under the radiator. If you go through the trouble, try to find something that will withstand impact w/ FOD. I know there are a few threads on this.

Dear lord yes they are, at least the titanium ones are! I wanted to replace mine myself also and was quoted in the ball park of $300, Jeff G. at Husker auto can get 25% off but its still like $250...The black ones are like half the price and for some reason seem to last longer than the titanium ones...

I am not aware of what is involved in removing and painting the mesh. I am not certain if it is plastic or metal.... But I am going to paint mine the Satin Nickel, I think that is the one I had seen at an airport on the E70 model.

If anyone has any DIY information on the removal of the mesh with photos, that would be great!

Thanks again, I love this forum!

I am going to take some pictures later today if the sun comes back out and will put them into my profile!
