Now drivers CV boot ripped. Plus replacing bushings
X is in today getting a new boot kit. I'm having them go ahead and replace the front suspension strut arm bushings. They check for play and three of the four bushings are shot. Also three of the ball joints are very loose as well. Looks like we'll be replacing the entire set of arms. With the CV boot work... $1,700. Oye!

Not surprised with the cost.
I replaced my driver side CV boot and replaced ATS reservoir and hose... it came out to $1000. ![]() My bushing are due as well and I wonder how much it will cost this time...

I've checked my boots, they are in great shape. Thank God. Is there anything I can do to maintain the rubber on them so I don't have to deal with them for a long long long time?

In theory, thoroughly cleaning them with Wurth Rubber Care once or twice a year would extend their life. A product I totally believe in and use on all the rubber parts on the car. But.. once my boots tore open, I inspected the rubber and it was in great shape.. in terms of dryness and cracking (none of that). The issue is that with every revolution of the axel the boot expands and then contracts. Billions of times. BMW just F'd up and should have made the rubber thicker and with a lower durometer.

Mine went within 2 months from each other. Extended warranty covered both, otherwise, it's ~800 each. I paid extra $11.50 for the axle nut.

Thank you!!!! I will do whatever I can to extend the life. I LOVE doing my own maintenance, but fixing is not nearly as fun.

CPO covered both front outer boots on mine. Tore about 3 or 4 months apart, of course, so you have two $50 CPO hits (but I'll take it -- beats full cost out of pocket charges...).
