When I did my monitors, I didnt pass the wire through the seat because I didn`t want to interfere with the airbags or heating elements in the seats. I have car tidies at the back of both seats for the kids, so I just hid it behind them and it looks very good.

Yes, the backpanel comes off. You need to take out 2 plugs on the underside, and then it just snaps off. These 2 pins are best replaced with new ones when you put the panel back afterwards. (cost only a few cents at the dealer).

Finally a tip : be carefull no to hurt your hand when pulling the wire through the seat.. there are some very sharp steel edges in there....

Couldn't you use fish tape for pulling the wire if you had big meaty hands?
