03 3.0 key fob issues

Ok, I know this subject has been mentioned a lot here but its driving me crazy so I am going to post in an attempt to get more insight into what the issue may be. My key fob works sometimes and sometimes it dosent. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this happens. There are no problems starting the car, its the locking and unlocking. I have 2 small children so this it is a pain when it dosent work and I am loading them into the car. I wouldnt mind going to the dealership and spending the money on a new one, but from what I have read here, there seems to be no guarentee it would work all of the time either. I drove the car to and from work yesterady and to run a couple of errands and had no luck with it locking, but last night I remembered I forgot to lock it so I grabbed the fob just to see if it would work and it did, like a charm, on the first try. Anyone else had the same issue?
