This might be normal behavior but trying to lock the car using the key with the driver door open does not lock the driver door. Then closing the driver door with the car locked (supposedly?), the driver door still remain unlocked. Now I able to open the driver door and the alarm goes off if I do open the driver side door.

I am pretty sure the drivers door will not lock unless it is closed. That helps stop you from locking your keys in the car.

All correct. Alarm is armed eventhough door remains unlocked. Another safety feature.

The boot lid will stay locked when you have opened it from the unlock button and left the bloody keys in there though.

I did the same damn thing this summer. I was so lucky it was in my driveway. I just ordered the valet key and three days later opened the door. My wife lost the other damn key . At least now I have a just in case key. I will order the original some day when I find a couple hundy laying around.
