Angel eyes dim at times
I bought some angel eyes from this seller BMW E53 X5 7000K BRIGHT CCFL HALO ANGEL EYES 00 01 02 : eBay Motors (item 160429194414 end time May-29-10 16:47:57 PDT) some time ago. At first they where working without problem, but now at times, one or two of the rings are dimmed when first lit.. I installed the wiring harness and now the lights come on when i unlock the car. However, it does'nt look too good when only two of the four rings lit up properly. Sometimes only one of the sides lit up as should.. After i start the car, they slowly turns as bright as they should, also if i turn the lights on and off many times, they will eventualy lit up.. I have tried with several different inverters/ballast's, so im pretty sure those are not causing the problem.. Could it be that they do not get enough power from the wires.? Or could it be that bacuase of a bad inverter in the past, the rings are harder to lit up as should.? Im thinking about ordering new rings to see if this solves the problem, however, i thougt i'd check on the forum for ideas, before hand... BTW, i have the harness with the relay, where i have a power source from the interior light, and the main power from the + pole in the engine compartement, and another source from the drl lights on the oem headlights.. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Its normal for the rings to be dim when first lit.
if they dont have the perfect amount of power they will not be fully bright, this also causes other issues, they are very sensitive to everything. Make sure your ground is good.

Hi.
Yeah, i have noticed that they are dim at first, and then slowly light up to full brightness.. But my problem is that only one, or two or three of the rings light up, while the others stay dim... But after i they are fully bright, and i leave the car for a short time, all the rings light up properly when i get back. But if i leave the car for several hours, they act the same way again.. The power amount should be sufficient, i think, and i grounded the harness on the bolt that holds the signal horn.. Maybe i should try a different ground point to see if that makes any difference... |

Check over the connections between the inverter and the angel eyes, if its loose or not fully seated it will not be 100% bright.

Okey.
Ill check that as well.. I have unplugged and plugged the AE's many times.. So maybe the connection is a bit slack... |

BTW lightswerkz, do you think there is any chance that the problem is caused by the rings themself.?
Or woud you say that it sounds unlikely.? |

Ring is possible, but its usually the power source/inverter issue when its dim.
