Stranded....

X5 just died, its on teh side of the road right now.

01 4.4, cranks right up and dies. feels like no gas flow. but if i give it gas it revs up like a mofo and dies as soon as i let go of the gas.

so don't think its fuel related

no CEL nothing.

Try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if it will start. My MAF died without a code. I unplugged it and it started up and ran excellent.

ding ding ding, i unplug maf. and its a go, drove it home. I have one laying around from a VW, swapped the guts and so far so good

just as FYI to anyone else reading this thread, i had a similar problem and it was a disconnected main sucking jet.

RealOEM.com BMW E53 X5 4.4i Vacuum control - engine

i fixed the leaks and i was good to go.
