Oxidized head light lenses

Both of my headlight lenses are oxidized/hazy. According to BMW of Honolulu, this is caused by the sun and is not covered under warranty. I will elevate to BMWNA, but am wondering if anybody has experienced the same issue and what your dealer has/hasn't done.

Thanks

I'll post pics later.

Yeah, my X5's is getting hazy as well, but only 1, the other 1 is just fine, it's a bit off because my 2003 325i (which we still own) isn't even hazy?

Very common, Griots sells a solid plastic polish that usually clears lights up a little bit. It's worth a shot.

Called BMWNA customer assistance. Rep I spoke to said they usually defer to the dealer on warranty/non-warranty issues. He said he'd call the dealer on my behalf, but that was after I persisted they do "something".

A friend of mine recently bought a 00' X5. It looked to be in good shape except the headlights were cloudy. I attempted to clean them first with plastic cleaner, then polish, and finally rubbing compound, all to no avail. Upon close inspection, I saw that the lenses were actually crazed, that is, millions of hairline cracks. There would be no way anyone could rub out these cracks. If I had to guess, it looked like that X5 spent a lot of time parked in the sun.

Try the 3M kit. It works wonders. You can see before and after photos in my thread.
