Vibration 60-80 especially upon acceleration SOLVED
Finally after many times of investigating and diagnosing, I solved my issue. I had a lot of vibration in the steering wheel and even the seats. it was horrible and the X did not feel safe. I have updated the first page as of today June 7th. I originally thought it was the front rear control arms and the steering knuckle balljoints which I replaced a few months ago and then it was still there. My very first gut feeling two years ago was the wheels but they checked out ok at a shop near me. two years later I brought my X to Al's Hubcaps in Mineola on jericho turnpike were they found the problem to be.......the two drivers side wheels both were bent. they fixed both wheels and balanced all four with there Road Force balancing machine(dont use anything else but this beautiful piece of equipment. a few hundred later and all is well. Lesson learned, take your wheels to a shop that has the best tools and youll get the job done the first time.

Is the tension strut also called the thrust rod? If so, it was the ball joint on it?

Had some vibration as well and just replaced today the tension bushing, tension strut ball joint, wishbone bushing, and sway bar endlinks in the front. I also had a clunk noise.
The ball joint was super loose on mine and the sway bar endlinks seemed to move with ease. My tension bushing looked ok, but I decided to replace. The wishbone was loose as well, not the bushing but the part that connects next to the ball joint. Should have just ordered a new arm instead. Also changed the the diff oil front and back and the transfer case. Now to start working on the rear suspension as it clunks and creaks.

Rear culprit is probably ball joints and swaybar endlinks. Good luck

your welcome! if they are original they will be a little tough to get out. put some PB blaster on them and than get at them with a balljoint remover. bmw tool is the best but I used a wood chisel and a balljoint seperator fork

You know, I've noticed that same problem in my truck but chocked it up to a bent wheel, but now I'm definitely checking these items when it goes in on Tuesday. How many miles do you have if you don't mind me asking? I've noticed once you get past 85-90 it goes away too, definitely odd.
