The one thing you did not mention is if you have a receiver hitch or not. If you do, check out Harbor Freight. They have a receiver bike rack for like $20-30. I bought this but returned it bc I carried 2 bikes on it and they got beat up pretty bad, along with the bumper of the X, but it would probably do OK with 1 bike.

Cheapest solution? Fold down the rear seats and throw it in

Since you don't have a hitch, you can either buy a roof-mounted rack, which works very well but will be expensive, or get a cheap universal rack that hangs on the rear hatch. The latter will be easy, but it can also mark up both the vehicle and the bike.

I think he meant he didn't when he said "I dont have the hitch installed."
Unless he edited it after your post.

dunno about "cheapest", but I have been a long time user of Yakima and thule rack products for roof mount. Most of these systems can be reused on different vehicles, so the investment you make can have a long pay-off period. I am still using some attachments I picked up 10+ years ago. You don't necessarily want the "cheapest" solution, IMHO. Get something built well that you can use for many years.

I prefer the Thule products, but Yakima is also good.

Here is a good place to do research and purchase whatever you end up deciding on:

Discount Truck & Car Racks from ORS Racks Direct: Yakima Racks - Thule Racks - Roof Racks Bike Racks Kayak Canoe Surfboard Snowboard Ski Carriers

You can't go wrong with either the OEM hitch, or a Thule T2 rack. Solid.
