Does it feel almost like someone ran into you?
If so, I had the same problem and a reflash of the transmission software fixed it for me. |

I have an 01 X5 4.4i... Do I qualify for the upgrade. Or was this an 04 and on?? Also how much does it cost, or does warranty cover this?? Thanks...

I think this affected many years of the X - my 2001 3.0i does it too. I really notice it if I put it in manual shift mode, shift up to 3rd gear under acceleration and then let off the gas once I hit 3rd. BAMMMMMM!!!
Now that I think about it, I have not noticed it as much when decelerating (as you have described) - maybe I have gotten used to it.

Yep. This is covered by warranty. Just take it in and they'll flash your tranny with the latest software. It is often described as a 2-1 kickdown problem when coming to a stop. Your service advisor will know exactly what you are referring to. It'll fix it. 4.4i included.

Umm...I don't think this is for the Pre-2003. I think us Pre-boy's are stuck. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.....

What I'm going to do is call Monday morning (SA) and see what he says, if they can't do anything because its a Pre 03-04-05- etc... Then I'm going to leave it as is. Like I said before. It does it once in a blue moon, car runs like a champ and tranny is smooth as silk. I'm just going to flush the tranny at 100k when ever that time comes... I'll find out Monday and I will then post my results....Thanks everyone for your input...
