60k Maintenance Parts List

2001 X5 4.4

03-22-2011 Update:

I've gotten a lot of help on this site so here's a little payback, hope it helps someone out there. I had a tough time compiling a complete coolant hose list, so here is my complete list.

I separate the 60K Maintenance into the following jobs:

1. Spark Plugs
2. Water Pump / Belts / Hoses / Radiator / T-Stat / 2 Coolant Sensors
3. Valley Pan / Fuel Line / Oil Separator

I did #1 and #2 but will wait until I get a Valley Pan leak before doing #3.

Tips I want to pass along:

1. To remove the clutch fan, I just used a pair of vise grips on the nut and a long screwdriver to hold the fan from turning. It turned very easily, just remember it is reverse thread. There is no need for a special tool.

2. To remove the lower radiator hose, it was easier to pull the radiator and remove the hose on the ground- yeah, it was stuck pretty well.

3. Order new $1 clamps, just get 10 of them, much easier to turn than the old ones for just a buck each.

4. When removing the water pump, secure the 2 pipes that go from the front of the engine to the rear so they don't move AT ALL when trying to break the water pump free from the stuck pipes, or they might come out on the rear side. You can put them back, but it's better to just not let them come out. I used a hammer to lightly tap the old pump side to side until it broke free.

5. When messing w/ the rear hoses, remove the cover back there 1st. It takes 5 minutes to remove and makes it so much easier. I found a how-to on this site.

6. Have someone ready to turn the engine off when bleeding the coolant of air. As soon as it comes out of the bleeder hole and the fill hole have them turn it off or coolant will go everywhere.

Original Post:

Got the best pricing from AutoHaus.

What I have already purchased and/or installed that is not on this list are:

8 NGK Spark Plugs
A/C Belt
Fan/Alt/Steering Belt
2 gal Distilled Water
2 gal BMW anti-freeze

What I planned on purchasing as I did this job were:
Fuel Line - I found that there is only 1 fuel line to replace and will replace it during the Valley Pan replacement job.
Vac Lines - I didn't need to replace any, all were still soft, but if you do just buy them at Pep Boys or similar.

This is a COMPLETE Purchase List, total was ~$1100:

Since your purchase list has part numbers in it, it might help to put in exact model year and engine type that the list is meant for.

Just a suggestion.

Just out of curiosity, why did you label this thread 60K Maintenance. Do you plan to change all of this every 60K?

Yup, every 60k. I'd rather do the work in the comfort of my garage than on the side of the road in the dark or rain.

... and sorry for forgetting to post more info- this is for a 2001 4.4 (thx Fas)
