Calling all A/C experts

I have a 06' 3.0L My A/C is does not work most of the time, (blows warm air) My X factory warranty was up in late march of this year and my local BMW dealer says I am basiclly S.O.L since my warr. is gone. Anyways, there are 2 electrical conectors under the hood, 1- on the pass. side of the fan shroud (close to the front of the motor) and 1- a few inches from the other, more on the top of the shroud. When I unplug the one on the pass side, mounted verticlly, then plug it back in, the A/C compressor will kick on and work for a while, sometimes an hour sometimes a week. Then start blowing warm agian. Then the same thing, unplug/plug in and will work again. Any help/sugestions? Thanx

If it is the plug with the couple of big wires going up/down that is just clipped to the fan shroud then it is for the AUX fan... And if the AUX fan is bad it can stop the AC from working. Does the fan come on still when the AC isn't blowing cold?

yes that is the plug, the aux fans seems to turn on/off alot. It will only go for 5-10 seconds then shut off. And once the car heats up to operating temp it stops working for the most past besides short 3-5 burst were it will kick on then off.

Which color wire is the ground do you know? or were does it ground to? Is it possible the ground is not making good contact and cusing it to turn on/off so much, or in the fan on it's way out? 2006 w/ 49k miles

Responded to the PM with the info.

You can look up the wiring schematics through the "online references" part on the top of the page. (may be for premier members only, don't remember) Or on this link if that isn't there for you.

Ended up buying at the dealer, got a huge discount trough a member of AZBMW.org. Just over $400. I installed the fan today and a/c is blowing like ice cubes, and the fan is quite as can be. Big thanks to Weasel for all the help via this post and through pm's.
