electric exhaust cutouts
hi everyone..i just found this website www.quicktimeperformance.com/ which sells electric exhaust cutouts.. they have sound clips of various vehicles and when the valve is open the exhaust sounds amazing..they come in a variety of pipe sizes from 2inch to 4inch..from what i can see they can fit any application by just matching the exhaust pipe size..i would love to put them on my x..cheap mod for great sound..techies please check it out and let me know what you think and if they would work on our x's...thanks rob

I strongly considered these on mine when thinking of exhaust options... even had links and videos in threads in the past. But essentially I decided against them from the lack of room to put them how I want them and where I want them. Think of it this way, you need to have the room to put cutout pipes with something the size of a wiper motor hanging off the side of it, then run wires to inside the cabin to a switch etc.
But I still want them!

I have a 3" cutout on my firebird. It works great. I'd put it/them on after the H or X pipe, if you have one. The great part is if you get annoyed after a while, you can just shut it back up and run quietly again. The space requirements aren't too bad. I don't have pipe after my cutout section, and essentially all you need to do to put one on is cut off the same amount of pipe the y pipe takes up and either weld it right in or vband flange it and bolt it down. The switches can be tricky, and you will need to figure out a good way to run the wires.
I have a QTP unit and it has been running well for 4 or 5 years.

Pic I can do, but alas that car is not running right now. I replaced all the gaskets, oil pump, timing, and some valvetrain, fired it up and it was running like poop. I think it was missing because the ICM wasn't grounded properly. I drained the start up oil and it came out full of metal. I'm DDing the X5 for now, wife lucked into a new daily and the firebird is now going experimental, when I get some time.
