trunk boot issues

Hi, i have a 2003 4.4i recently the tailgate lock/latch stopped working, i have replaced it but i the lights in the tailgate wont turn off and as soon as i start driving i get a message telling me that the boot is open. The boot locks up nicely, i can not seem to find any senor etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Secondly has anybody changed the transmission temperature sensor?

Thanks in advance!

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Also, if the left and right bump stops are set too far out it can cause the car to see the lid as open... make sure they aren't adjusted too far out.

The bump stops are adjusted correctly, the unit I bought from a wrecker and I think it's faulty because the boot light won't turn off even if I close the latch manually with a screw driver while the tailgate is open. Is the sensor located in the latch unit? I had a look at realoem.com using my sav vin LN88048 but I can not see any sensor?
Thanks in advance
