I have the same issue with it mounted inside my spoiler...what about an interior window mount, has anyone tried one with success?

Whats the big deal about putting it directly on the roof. I have mine dead center above my front window and mine NEVER cuts out unless i'm in a parking garage. Its flat so its not noticeable. So many cars have them these days its just like having side mirrors... nobody notices them anymore.

My antenna's magnet isnt very strong, to moves around in the back. Plus just because everyone has it on the roof doesnt mean I want it there too! lol. Personal preference.

I have mine mounted under the roof rail, I have no reception problems. But I also use a starmate, I don't have it hardwired.

my Z4 on the other hand... factory system, antenna mounted in the middle of the trunk, reception sucks, I loose signal going under tree branches...

I covered the a section of the spoiler with foil tape (metal) mounted the anntenna to it, works great, even gets signal in the garage!

You mean he antenna gets better reception if it is mounted on any type of metal? I did see someone made a braket for in the spoiler seemed to work for him pretty well. But aluminum tape would be a quick alternative if that's all it takes. Mine is just mounted with some electrical tape right now. Not the most beautiful way. But you can't see it anyway!

Yes, it should be mounted to as large a metal surface as possible. That's why the roof was chosen as the OE install.

I have started working on a solution. Let me know what you think. This is just a rough sketch. In the prototype the dish would probably be better on the roof instead of the hood.
