congrats - you will enjoy her. So last night I was heading home from band rehearsal and taking my normal back country roads route home. After 10:30, so fully dark and nobody was out there. Our guitarist was following me in his Civic SI coupe - newish model. Well - there is one especially twisty downhill section and I was jamming it through there and he wasn't really able to keep up. Now - maybe he wasn't really trying and honestly I wasn't pushing it nearly as hard as the 4.6is will allow, but I was taking full advantage of the superior grip and the sweet manual shifting mode and had that Alpina V8 singing up well above 4K rpm!! It was sweet. All with a full drumset in the back!! haha. Love my utility rig!!

I would not had that kind of fun in a MDX, I know that much for sure. Much as my wife would prefer to have a utility with seating for 7. Reality is she would probably use that 10 times a year at most. I enjoy this several times a week and the smile hardly fades!!

I've had mine a year and put 10K miles on it.

Enjoy and welcome.

Thanks all, yes this is an awesome vehicle I am still trying to come to terms with the levels of grip it provides, last night i was on I95 and me and a 335i (i think since it was raining) were doing like 90 - 95 (were'nt racing just driving a lil faster than others) for like 4-5 miles.
I absolutely love this vehicle so far. (BTW tried the sports mode for the first time last night)
Yii - I recently moved to CT and the park is Cove Beach in Stamford.

c4racer - Nice really makes me glad i choose 4.8is instead of the mdx or the gx i was considering am sure they might have better electronics and greater reliability but none would've brought the WIDE grin on my face, also is it just me who thinks the back of this car's really sexxaay (i dont like to call it a truck :-)) cause i find myself allways parking it in a way that the back is visible (love the way thoose massive rear dimaris look) and staring at it for a few seconds before I leave.

I dont think just a test drive does any justice to this car need to have it for a longer duration to appreciate the various attributes of this car, since at the time of test drive i did'nt think i'd love it so much since it was brief and i was looking to make it a family car and went for it since the 4.8is came with all the options std and it was tough to keep track of the various packages on a 4.4 or 3.0 when comparing them, however now i see myself taking it out for grocery runs to another city 20 mins away and am running out of excuses at home as to why it takes me an hour to get some milk and eggs when it took me like 10 mins when i was in NY.

I pretty much enjoy it more every time I drive it. Although it is just too big to keep me happy as a daily driver - I had an Audi S4 but replaced that with a C6 Corvette which is now my good weather daily driver. So that makes it even more special when I do climb behind the wheel of the X5 when I need to haul some gear or people. And I've had mine a year. Although my wife had it for 2 months when her car was out for a repair - I really missed it those 2 months too.

I agree with the comment on the looks - there is just something way cool about the "is" trim / body work in conjunction with the nice E53 lines and the 315 rear steamrollers!! It's still a very good looking vehicle, IMHO.

Mine has been reliable so far, but I am fully prepared for some repair headaches and expenses. But that's OK - it is worth it to me.
