Road Noise
After.pdf Would this toe issue on the rear cause road noise(sounds like tire whine) between 50 and 70 mph? Thanks! The attachments are before and after pictures of my alignment parameters. It appears that they did not have the special tool to adjust my rear toe and I am at .10 half toe on the left side and -.05 half toe on the right side. Camber came in at -1.5 left and -1.8 right after a change from -2.5 on each. So is that toe issue enough to cause all this road whine I hear? Maybe the tires are now worn on the inside and its to late? thoughts? Thanks! Last edited by Michael22x5; 06-15-2010 at 03:48 PM. Reason: Added some attachment detail |

The front toe is within specs, but on the heavy side of them... But not enough to cause a noise. What tires do you have and how many miles on them?

Take a look at the rear toe, it is a little out. Front does seem good. They are 285mm on all 4 nitto 20"
Appreciate the help |

The rear toe is a little out, but that will just cause 5 degrees of thrust angle or "dog walking". The toe angles are still less than where the front is at so not gonna be the cause of the noise.
Which nittos? The 555's? If so run your hand forwards the backwards across the outer row of tread feeling if it is choppy. (kinda saw toothed in one direction a bit)

If they are worn choppy they very well might be the source of noise while driving. It usually sounds like the slight hum of mud tires.

They are asymmetrical vs directional so you could swap them from left to right which would have the opposite toe angle affect on them, but it would be a bit noisier at first and would be wearing past the choppy part in the other direction... So you would wear the tires faster than if you left them alone.

That sounds like a good plan, not so worried about wearing to fast, the noise is a little off putting to say the least. I will shop for better tires next time, do some research on our site first.
Thanks again for your time |
