I does because my passenger door lock was inop until I replaced the module on that side. Both my door modules had to be replaced. Now everything works. I also fixed the passenger mirror with the new module. I used to get a DOOR OPEN warning also and the interior light wouldn't go out. I fixed 10 problems with new modules!

That's great news, thanks. I was going to take off my driver's door skin to assess the lock situation right away, but I'll hold off for now.

Next I need to source one of these master switch units. Unfortunately Canadian BMW Stealers mark up BMW parts really high. Real OEM says the price should be $134.66 US, but my local Stealer wants $198.49 CAD (= $194 US). Autohaus AZ doesn't stock these. Anyone have any suggestions on a good source for bits like this?

Thanks. They didn't have the trunk lid grip that I also needed so I ended up getting a bunch of stuff for both the M5 and X5 from ECS Tuning. Should be here in a week or so at which time we'll see how many of the electrical Gremlins get tamed.

I received and installed the new driver's door master control unit yesterday, and now everything is working fine including the driver's automatic lock .

Meanwhile the speakers in the driver's door stopped working for a few days, and the control unit didn't seem to change that problem . I guess I'll make a post in the audio & electronics section and see if anyone has any ideas for what the problem might be.

Drivers Door switch and lock

I have exactly the same issues as you with the drivers door not locking with the remote and the passenger and rear windows not working from the drivers door. Did you fix this and if so how please ?

1. I had similar issues and I bought a used door controller...it didn't fix my problem, I can sell mine to you.
2. My actual issue was corroded pins at the door jam. Open your door and you see rubber conduit covering the switch (disconnect the battery first!). Unscrew and pull connector off to check.

Drivers door issues fixed

Guys,

Finally found the problem today and fixed it. It was a broken wire in the rubber sheath between the Drivers door and the door pillar believe it or not. It was coloured red and blue, and I am guessing it is the P-Bus control wire to the Driver Door switch block.
I had checked in this area before but did not spot the broken wire. It was a clean break, so not quite sure how it happened. Maybe just stretched over time, as it did seem a bit short. Anyway, after stripping the whole door down and this connecter for about the millionth time, I am very pleased to have fixed it.
Basically I just soldered in a new short section of wire between the two broken ends, and covered with heat shrink. I had to however, cut the trianglar shaped hood off and re-glue it back on after to gain access to the broken wire.
After putting it all back together, all the windows, central locking and mirrors work as they should. I left the replacement drivers door switch module in place, as when I tested my old one, the rear passenger window would not operate from it.
Very pleased to have my car working properly again.
I have included some pics of the issue and repair.

Wow! That's a definite fix for sure. Mine still acts up every once in awhile and I would bet that a nearly broken wire is the culprit.

It reminds me of the electric trunk release on my E39 M5 that had several broken wires.

I don't know which guy was in charge of wire lengths back then but I'd like to kick him in the...
