Need E53 coolant & brake fluid recommendation

My 2006 X5 has 67,000 miles and I plan to perform the Inspection II. I’d like to replace fluids while I have the vehicle in the air. Can some recommend the type of coolant and brake fluid I should use.

I’ve always used ATE Super Blue brake fluid in my race cars and am pleased with it.

Thank in advance,
Nick

I would use BMW coolant, and change it every four years.

I don't see the need to use BMW brake fluid, I would go with any DOT4 fluid that is fresh. If the ATE blue fluid is cheaper than a standard jobber fluid, then it would work fine. I wouldn't pay any more for it. The real issue is that you need to change it every two years, and that time matters much more than which DOT4 fluid you use, IMO.

I noticed mine was green when I drained it and the new stuff is blue, same thing? I didn't know if there was a difference between the silver and white bottles of coolant bmw sells.

I use the Ate Super Blue racing Dot 4 because it has a dry and wet boiling point that's about 20 deg F higher then most other Dot 4 fluids. I use my X for highway towing and the higher boil point is a plus, 5k lb truck, 6k lb trailer and 90 mph = almost 3 million ft/lbs of kinetic energy for the brake system to transfer to heat energy. Go with the highest boil point you can find if you tow. Funny little fact.....Blue tinted brake fluid is ILLEGAL for road use in Florida. What a retarded state!

If you want to flush the ABS valve body (the correct way), you will need to have the X hooked up to a GT1 so the ABS system cycles during the process.

Motul 600 (or 660) brake fluid. If you are really worried about brake temps, go to Castrol SRF. You'll love the price point.
