Front brakes

Not being familiar with BMW brake systems, does anyone know if I can simply turn them? They are beginning to pulse just a bit, typical of warped rotors being used under heavy breaking.

Thanks,

BMW doesn't put a lot of meat on the rotors, probably to keep unsprung weight down. Technically you can turn them, but you won't find many people that recommend it. I didn't turn my own, and I have free access to a brake lathe.

The minimum thickness is stamped on the rotor if you do decide to pursue this.

As an aside, the concept of warped rotors gets lots of discussion, and the brake suppliers tend to focus on pad deposition more than warping. If it was physical warping, you could measure run out or high spots.

You may want to try deglazing them if you want to play with it instead of replacing the rotors.

I cut my rotors last fall because they were warped. Worked great for a few months. The pulsing came back so I just got new brakes and rotors all around. I went with cross-drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads from irotors.com
can't described how much better they stop than stock not to mention how nice they look. I get compliments from random people all the time, especially at the gas station
They only cost about $400 I went with the $10 more for ceramic pads
