On Board Computer - laptop connection

Guys saw this while I was cleaning the car today and I can only assume it's for the BMW dealer to connect their computer to the cars computer to make internal adjustments - anybody have any other info on this pc port??......

That's the OBD II computer. Whenever the car has a check engine light, you can plug in an OBD II scanner to read the codes.

it's just on the panel under the steering wheel on my right hand side over my knee - it's probably on your left as yours is probably a left hand drive, unless they've hidden it somewhere else in the new models.

OBDII IN EVERY CAR MUST BE WITHIN 1METER FAR AWAY FROM DRIVERS POSITION. BMW HAS IT ON LEFT SIDE BY YOUR KNEE.

I bought an Actron 9135 on eBay that I've used on 4 different cars. I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

ok Actron 9135 is a toy for reading codes. you can read these codes in secret menu in your tacho/dashboard. so u dont need codes reader what i am talking about is full range OBDII interface to use with laptop. with all options like OEM BMW dealer has. reading f codes, live data, total diagnostic, progarmaing airbag, radio,...
lots of them tust cant read data from car. that is problem. i had before obdI interface and wotked perfectly. but OBDII i bought 3 diferent tried with 3 different laptops and 2 cars. none of them could work without errors.
