retaining clips missing off calipers,dangerous?

Had one click sound come from my rear end everytime i hit brakes at say 5-10mph, I checked callipers and the rear has the clip missing as does one side of the front, is this dangerous without a clip?and can I purchase clips separately on their own?i have a box of new pads and none have this clip included....

better to fix the missing clips as the pads may shift and not sit well on the disc. hence braking may be affected.

They keep the caliper held in place tightly, without it the pads can wear uneven and the rattling is just annoying as hell...

thanks weasel just goes to show you the bi-annual vehicle examination the car passed a few weeks back never picked up on this, suppose they may have been lifted or fallen off, should i bend them a bit before putting them on so the fit is tighter?and will they just clip in place?thanks

The new ones should fit perfect. They already fit tight with enough spring tension, the only way they ever really come off is if they weren't fully/properly installed.
