Well the factory warranty ran out soo i am going to start doing oil changes my self. is it safe to run Mobil 1 for oil and can i get air filter, and oil filter from local parts stores i do i need to go to dealer for these items. And what is the capacity for the oil? Thanks

Mobil 1, or Castrol, are both good choices. Use the correct viscosity, synthetic, and an API SM rating.

Recommend you use BMW filters. If you don't want to go to the dealer, you can get them online. There are sponsors on this board with them.

You need to buy 9 quarts of oil, and see how much it takes (8.x from memory)

Don't know what model you have but the capacity info is in the manual. You can download one on the bmwusa website. Also, I agree, go with BMW filters, and personally I'd stick with BMW oil, though BMW does have an official list of approved oils posted on it's website as well.
