Which cam sensor did you change? There are 4, intake and exhaust cam sensors for both banks. You may have changed the wrong one...

It would be easier if you had a better tester that gave enhanced code definitions rather than generic p-codes. That would tell you more about the idle control and which cam sensor etc. But if the cam sensor fault is saying over retard, it may not be the cam sensor itself but it could be saying the cam itself is having a problem with vanos activation. Just like O2 sensor faults saying the fuel mixture is too lean, means there's a vacuum leak, not the O2 sensor is bad.

Sensors

Thanks for that. I know for sure that i got a vacuum leak and the fuel mixture is lean too. No sensors have been changed as yet. Where would you say i start from. Would you say it's wise just to change all 4 sensors at the same time ?

If all of the cam sensors are OEM and have never been changed you could change them all out now, they did change styles of sensors with updated parts that are a bit more robust. But if $$$ is tight you could just change the one that is throwing faults.

For the vacuum leak, I'd start by looking at the common factors like the intake boot on the 3.0i, the crankcase venting system on all engines etc. And around 100k miles the intake manifold gaskets can start leaking on the V8 which calls for a complete intake reseal with all gaskets and rear cover plate.

Thanks for that info. God you might think i am dumb but if you can, list the sensors that should be changed and quantity please so that i can get started. Might as well do all the sensors in one go.

Thanks
