Wheel Bearings

What r the chances that wheel bearings, valve cover gasket and high pressure hoses are covered under CPO?

Wheel bearings should be covered.

Hoses definitely are not covered, unless they are Power Steering or air conditioning hoses.

Valve cover gasket may be a bit of a gray area. Maintenance isn't covered, engine is. Wear and tear is not covered, but you need the Consumer Information Statement to determine more specifically what is included in that wear and tear exclusion. It could depend on the service advisor. My gut feel is that a valve cover gasket is a maintenance item.

That isn't CPO, it is prepaid maintenance. If you have that full maintenance plan, get them to fix everything because you have already paid for it.

I have a CPO vehicle and have the maintenance contract. Called the dealer and left a message. Let's see if I get a call back this time. This dealer doesn't have a good track record for calling back and I have been going to them for a while.

Got the truck back today. They replaced the valve cover gaskets. Said they cant find any thing wrong with the hoses. They also said the wheel bearings wouldn't have play they would make noise. Asked if they bothered to check them and they kept going around the question. Is it normal to have a service adviser that doesn't know much about cars and doesn't ask questions of the tech about what the customer complained so when u call me u have answers.

What did you feel was wrong with the hoses?

They are right about the wheel bearings, they are a sealed unit that makes a noise when they start to fail. They aren't like older separate cone type wheel bearings that get loose.

I have been happy with my service advisor. When I had a front wheel bearing go (I diagnosed it, and identified it as LF, by the sound) my SA had a tech come out of the shop to go for a drive around the block with me. Tech took one block to confirm my diagnosis, and we went from there.
