6 CD Changer Replacement Help

Hello everyone. I am a long time BMW enthusiast and multiple machine owner on both the four and two wheel fronts.

I have an 01 4.4 X5 and want to replace the 6 cd changer with something new. It regularly acts up and gets stuck. Just don't want to deal with it anymore.

The vehicle has 93k on it, I have had it for about 5 years and have no plans on getting rid of it anytime soon.

What would you reccomend? I have searched through some of the other threads and was not able to find anything.

Looking forward to your expert/experienced advice.

Thanks in advance.

I have a used good condition changer from my 02 that you can have for $125 shipped. Pay pal friendly.

Or check out Dice if you want to add an ipod connection.

I will send pay pal info in PM, but just double check this is the same changer. I don't know what CD holder you are referring to. Here are some pics of the changer.

Thanks so much for taking the photos I will go look in the garage to confirm.

I just wanted to confirm you also had the sleeve or case that ejects out of the unit and allows you to place the cd's inside it prior to putting in back inside the main unit. Let me know if that makes more sense. Thanks for your time.

My X didn't come with a changer so I went to Best Buy and purchased an iPod adapter that plugs into the changer plug in the left rear compartment. I ran the iPod interface cable into the consol and it works great, even uses the CD control buttons on the steering wheel. I don't recall the brand name but a quick web search should give you some options. And, the in dash CD still functions for those rare times when my wife wants to hear something not on the 'pod.

Well that seems like a good option, need to get something new in my system. How much did you manage to pick up the adapter for?
