17 inch X5 oem wheels for winter tires??

I have a 2006 x5 with 19inch OEM wheels right now but I was wondering if there will be some compromise with the ride if I go with 17 inch OEM wheels for the winter tires? Thanks for your response fellow fanatics....

No compromise, except on "looks", in some people's minds...
however, that 17 " wheel set with good dedicated snows
is the best combo on the planet, for winter driving, imo.
We had that set for 5 winters; it was bullet proof and
Mtn Goat-like.

We got some wierd winters in NYC where it can be a blizzard one day and the next it could be clear and some what warm. Is it a good idea to have dedicated winter tires?

You should have another 17" OEM set for winter, there are several set of used tires/wheels on ebay. In NYC area, you can buy 255/50/R19 and 285/45/R19 All-Season tires for winter/light snows from tirerack.com

StarX5, I have a set of 17's already and that's where 'm planning to mount the winter tires. I did a bit more reading and the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow had the best review as many X5 owners are very satisfied with the performance. BTW where did you get your TV's installed? If you don't mind telling me how much it cost you?
