DSP problem no sound installing a Dice

I have the following problem and I hope that someone will be able to help,

I have a BMW X5 2006 with Premium Sound, business CD radio and bluetooth.

I'm trying to install a Dice Silverline Pro with my iPhone 3G. I followed the documentation and everything works but I get no sound. By "everything works", I mean that I can browse the songs in the iPhone, select them, play them, from the stearing wheel. The information, like the current song, is also shown on the cluster and on the radio.

I tried to install using all the following means:

- Using the radio harness: I get no sound.

- Using the trunk harness and by connecting to the 3 pins (ibus) and the 6 pins connectors (cdc): I get no sound.

- Using the trunk harness and the DSP converter (yes, I do have the digital DSP, with the little coax input along with the 6 pins connectors): I get no sound.

I made this little test to try to isolate the problem. I used the iPhone earbuds and I touched the output of one of the Dice unit RCA connector to see if the sound was getting out the Dice module. It worked. I get the sound in the earbud. This mean that the problem is after the Dice module.

So, based on these facts:

- The iPhone works.

- The Dice unit works.

- Using either the analog connection (6 pins in the trunk, or direct radio) or the digital connection (mini coax input) doesn't give any sound.

Also, I tried with all combination to set the volume very very high to see if I would pick up at least a little noise. Nothing.

So, it seems that for some reason, neither digital or analog DSP input is activated on the amplifier. If I had a cdc (cd changer), I could test the amplifier but I don't have it. So I think it could be the following:

1) the amplifier doesn't have its input activated. Is there a way to activate this? A visit to a dealer?

2) the amplifier input is broken.

3) my car would only works with a DSP converter and my Dice DSP Converter is broken.

This problem is giving me a big headache, if anyone have an idea, please help.

Thanks in advance.

The latest production date I've seen for an X5 with Digital DSP was 2005, I've never seen a 2006.

I would recommend obtaining a OEM CD Changer to test the leads/connections to determine which configuration you are equipped with.

If so - you would be the first. Let's verify with an OEM CD Changer beforehand.

But... Tom, I did both installation, the Analog and the Digital, none of them worked. I suspect that either I have to recode something in the amplified/radio or I have some faulty hardware in the car. In your experience, did you ever hear anything like this before?

You did using the DICE.

The CD Changer will determine if this is a BMW configuration problem, or a possible issue with the DICE module/harness.

Tom, I had the same problem, it was a 2006 X5 with DSP non-nav. I had to use digital interface to make it work

doing the same thing in MY2004 dsp x5 and no luck, just order yet another DICE DSP adapter to see if this one is faulty. also tried both analog and digital.

I would recommend contacting DICE to speak directly with a technician on your issue.

DICE can be contacted at 888.342.3999 or by email at DICE Electronics LLC - DRIVE | LIVE | ACCESSORIZE -Support.
