Name this Fluid Leak
Noticed a small pool under my new to me 4.4i today. It is happening under the side mirrors. Looks like it's rear of the cat? Probably a bit closer to driver's side than passengers, but close to center. I couldn't reach under to feel the fluid, but I'll check it tomorrow. Attached is a photo from the general area. What are possible causes? Thnx. |

By the back of the transmission? Maybe get a pic of the fluid when you feel the consistency of the fluid, also see if it smells like gear oil or whatnot.

Checked it this morning. There were two spots side by side on the driveway. Both were clear, neither had a smell and neither had a strange feeling. So made me think it was water.
BUT.... If it was water dripping from AC, it would have stopped dripping within an hour or so after turning the truck off and evaporated by the time I woke up and checked in the morning!? |

Follow up... I think it's water, but can't believe it would be dripping that long after the truck was turned off.
Here are two photos of the dripping: |

I think it's water from the A/C. Mine has begun doing the same thing, dripping water just rear of the front wheels, two spots side-by-side in the tranny area. It will drip for 2+ days in the garage and when I back her out, it will leave a trail on the floor as I back out. I recently had some work done at my Indy and I think they removed the lower pan access panels and didn't replace them. I always wondered where all of that A/C condensation water was going - it was being held in the underpan and must be dispersed as you drive?
