:: ECS Tuning :: E53 X5 EBC Brake Pads (GreenStuff, Redstuff, YellowStuff)
![]() EBC GreenStuff 6000 Series Performance Brake Pads Designed as a mildly upgraded pad, for use in SUV's EBC Greenstuff 6000 brake pads are designed for premium Trucks & SUVs. Not a very aggressive brake pad, operating clamping force when first applied. This pad is designed for longer life and better resistance to offroad conditions of dust and sand etc. It has an extremely low rotor wear factor and medium-to-good lifetime. ![]() ![]() EBC RedStuff Performance Brake Pads A high performance street pad, featuring Kevlar technology. EBC Redstuff brake pads are designed for high performance models that are driven aggressively on the street. Featuring a low dusting compound, that offers stopping power even when your brake discs are cold. This material is a Kevlar fiber based brake compound enhanced with ceramic particles. If you have previously tried EBC Redstuff (pre-ceramic compound) this material is light years ahead. It lasts longer, it brakes better and is quieter. Being a hard wearing pad, bed-in times can be as long as 1000 miles and drivers must be patient until the pad takes up the shape of their disc (brake rotor). This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking. ![]() Last edited by ECS Tuning; 04-13-2012 at 04:24 PM. |

Because of the variation between models, I opted not to post links directly to avoid any ordering confusion.
Here is a link to the pads with pricing for a 2001 X5 4.4i: BMW E53 X5 M62 4.4L > Braking > Pads - ECS Tuning Inc |

Man, you guys have sooo many to choose from. I don't remember what I did on my 7, but I drive it WAY harder than the X. I just want the same thing I got in my 7....better braking all around, definately no squeel at all, and less to zero dust....suggestions from your huge list of options?

Well, there are a few directions you could go depending on how hot you are getting the system. If you are looking for more of a performance pad, the Hawk HPS or EBC RedStuff would be good options. However they are both pads meant for repeated / heavy braking and it sounds like your 7 series (or the M5) may be the car of choice for those driving scenarios.
For a slight upgrade from the stock pads for more bite and less dust, the Akebono Euro's are a great option which can be found here: BMW E53 X5 M62 4.4L > Braking > Pads > ES#205310 A favorite among BMW enthusiasts - ECS Tuning Inc Another option would be the PBR MetalMaster Pads, they would be very comparable to the Akebono's. I personally run a set of these on my A6 Avant and have been very happy with them. BMW E53 X5 M62 4.4L > Braking > Pads > ES#205312 Non-asbestos, semi-metallic compound provides the highest fade resistance among leading semi-met brake pads. - ECS Tuning Inc And last on the list would be any of the other ceramic pads (Hawk Ceramics, PBR Ceramic) which both be comparable to the Akebono Euros. The Akebono pads are extremely popular in the BMW community in general and one of our best selling pads for the X5. |

I think the PBR MM's is what i'm running on the 7 now....i'd have to dig through receipts. They seem to get the job done and don't dust compared to the factory pads. Once I order the 750 calipers for my 740, i'll order pads for each vehicle so I can the X at the same time. Thanks for the help.

Ends up I have Axxis pads. How do those compare to say the PBR's?

You may be running Axxis XBG pads, which as someone stated, are exactly the same as the PBR Metal Masters. I have them on my 02 4.4i and they have been great overall pads.

The Axxis and PBR pads are actually identical and manufactured by the same company, the same exact pads just packaged in a different box.
