Take a "hot" climate car to cold climate = problems?

Years ago when I lived in Arizona, I bought my mom a Lexus LS from Phoenix which was absolutely perfect. It looked brand new and had never seen snow or rain ever. I drove it up to Denver where my mom lived during the summer and she loved it.

During the winter however, she started having all sorts of issues with it. The dash lights would flicker when it was really cold, the door locks would stick, the suspension would make creaking noises, etc. When the following summer came, the issues seemed to disappear. This cycle continued until she got rid of it and she was convinced it had to do with the car being from Phoenix its whole life then brought up to the mountains where it gets much colder.

Well, I'm thinking about taking my car to Denver to give to my little sister now. She lives in Denver and might be moving to Minnesota soon. My car has been in Las Vegas since it was new and has seen rain less than 5 times and seen snow 1 time.

I'm slightly concerned about my mom's experience and was wondering if there is truth to her experience or if it was in her head. Have any of you experienced the same or should I not be concerned? TIA

Interesting...
Not sure I've ever read about that anomaly.

I know when I lived in NY, just outside NYC, for a qtr century, we had some brutal winters and some hot azz summers,
but the pablum Company cars we had always ran remarkably well for being hammered on.

Maybe they were acclimated and enjoyed the "seasons". Dunno...I am curious to read what others think of your wonderment.

Maybe it's the "stays in Vegas" thing...

Haha perhaps!! Well I grew up in Colorado and took my car to Arizona with me and had none of the issues my mom's car experienced, so maybe it was acclimated to seasonal changes? It was funny to hear my mom complain about the Lexus when it was cold, but when I drove it in Denver when I would come home from Christmas I definitely noticed myself the car "didn't like" the cold. The whole dash wouldn't light up for several seconds, the idle was rough, all sorts of weird behaviors if it was below about 40 degrees. Above 70 degrees or so the car ran beautifully!

I have certainly noticed here in the winter time that the rear passenger door lock sticks really bad and sometimes even the driver rear passenger door. In the summer time none of the locks stick. I don't seem to have any mechanical issues that vary from season to season however (extreme heat notwithstanding like for AC/cooling system stuff).
