snow tires still confused

sorry i know there are some threads on this but some are very old.. what kind should i buy for 20's for my 214's now or should i get a new set of wheels and tires and what size would be the best i just became a proud dad of a 2006 x5 4.8is and have toyo's with 80% on them but stealer said they were beat for winter and im not sure he is just trying to make 4,000 bucks off me wich i would never buy from him anyway!!!!!!.....live in ct. so its hit or miss for snow but i like to go to vermont a couple times a month and up there it always covered.....
