I listened to your other video on your YouTube favorites and it sounded good with the x-pipe. I like the sound of the new mufflers, I just don't like that popping sound at the last few seconds Is this a combination of an x-pipe and the mufflers? I've already sold my x-pipe to someone while I was in Seattle for $80, so maybe getting these mufflers could be a sound and visual upgrade as well. I had a friend over today who was admiring the exhaust on my 740iL and was saying I need to do something to the X now, so it's got me thinking about it again.

Throw up some pics man! I'm still curious to see how well they fit within the bumper holes.

the mufflers are a little too close for comfort...it melted a part of the back bumper but you cant see it cause its on the inside ...other than that paying 30$ for those mufflers is a bargain!!!!....both mufflers were cheaper than the x-pipe.....but i do have the x-pipe and mufflers on right now and a drop in K&N air filter.......but at least it sounds better than the other guys x5 with the same mufflers....the x-pipe makes all the difference in the world...btw today i race a 350z up to like 50 mph and i was in front the whole time...once he let go of the gas to shift to 2nd i pulled another 1/2 car length in an instant and i had a full car...my dad was in the passenger seat going like this to the 350z lol

Can they be pushed further back at all, or would it be too sharp of an angle on the exhaust piping?

Damn it, between you and BMWX54.4...the dollar sign goes in the front of number bro! Do you know him? From what I remember, he's removed his and went back to the stock mufflers in an attempt to make-up for the mistake he made of using straight pipes. I offered to sell him my x-pipe, but after getting his address, I've heard nothing more and now it's been sold anyways.

Yeah, I purchased the x-pipe I had when I did the Magnaflow 14816 mufflers on my 740iL, but the combination of the two was way too much for me. Within a week I had the shop throw the stock resonator back on, and I noted my findings on the thread my friend Steve and I had created in regards to notching the bumper, installing the mufflers, etc. I get the feeling that it's either x-pipe or mufflers on the X5 as well, but not both...at least for the amount of noise I want.

I told BMWX54.4 that the problem he did with his exhaust is that he did straight pipes instead of an x-pipe, which I'm sure it was a financial decision more than anything. That's more than likely why yours may sound better than his.

The X5, being as heavy as it is, is pretty decent off the line. The DBW throttle on the X is far more sensitive to input than my 740iL, and I still find myself unintentionally jumping off the line sometimes in the X.

Post up pics sometime, I'm still curious to see how they fit.

yeah the mufflers cant be pushed any further back... but if your going to pick between x-pipe and mufflers....deff do the mufflers because they have more benefits like sound and looks.....ive had 5 random people stop and ask me what i had done to the car....and one guy thought i was supercharged lol (i wish ) but i deff turn heads...now i just need new brakes cause mine are worn and some nice 19 inch rims or even 20's but i only what bmw rims....ive seen e92 m3 rims for the x5 idk how it would look though

Take some pics, we still wanna see. Put up both your exhaust and the rims that you're looking at.

For brakes, I went with Axxis/PBR Metal Masters because of the fact they're super low dust and a good all around pad. I also painted my calipers while I was in there, calipers red, hangers, caliper holders and rotor hats in black. I though about switching to blue brake fluid, but instead of just bleed all 4 corners using normal fluid.

I removed the roof rails long ago. Painted and clear coated them white, sealed them with clear silicone and popped them in.

Your engine definately has a whine to it, you can even hear it in the video. How's your power steering fluid look? Or maybe the torque converter...does it only do that from a stop?
