Windshield washers only work intermittently, any others?

Recently when I start the car in the morning and try to wash the windshield, the washers don't work. If I turn off the engine and restart, still no washers. But after I go a mile or so I can turn off the engine and restart and the washers will work.

Clearly something electrical but I've got no idea where to start. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Most likely not really time related, but just a washer pump going out. It is a cheap and easy fix.

Well, I had a new washer pump and reservoir replaced under CPO, still does it. I can hear the pump working when I pull the stalk, but no fluid. Guess I'll need to find the time to start tracing the lines from the pump to the nozzles to see if there are any checkvalves that might be gummed up and stuck. Add one more thing to growing list of things to do on the cars.
