How do these really work?

How does the time delay for the headlights work? and how is it set up? I have selected 40s, 90s in CKM - Car Key Memory (SSS/GT1 scanner), and is successful on coding. But the feature still does not work, or is not set up correctly...I have tried the same feature/option on an E53 and E46 and still the feature shows it is accepted in CKM, but I have no idea on how to make it work

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Once the key is off and you are exiting the vehicle simply pull the turn signal stalk for "flash to pass" and the lights will come on for whatever time you have set.
