drivers seat repair

i posted a little while back r/e getting the drivers seat base foam replaced, as i thought the wire that supports the edge (sport seats) was broken.

anyway i ordered the new foam base (BMA) and had it fitted, wow what a difference in firmness in the seat base.

the real problem once it was pulled apart was that there is as stated a piece of metal rod / wire that supports the seat edge but it also has a piece of moulded plastic that clips to the rod, that had come adrift and gave the indication something was broken.

as well as that the foam was split so there was no padding between the wire rod and the leather, the rod should be totally contained within the foam.

the trimmer who did the job thought the foam was cheap and nasty, a bit disappointing in such an expensive car.

so now on inspection the passengers side is also feeling like the foam is collapsing, so i plan to have that seen to as well , it seems that getting in and out of these cars the seat outer edge cops a hammering especially the sports seats,

first disappointment with this car, 5 years old 80,000km (54000 miles) you would think that seat repairs would be the last thing to need doing

I need to get this done on my drivers seat as well. How much did you pay for the new foam and fitting?

i paid $165 USd for the foam base, from BMA in the US and it cost $60 to post took about 7 days, and i paid a local trimmer $150 AU to fit it

better than the just under $800 BMW wanted plus fitting
