WTF! BMW emblem flew off my X!

Sunday it was pouring down rain and the wipers going as fast as they could when... SMACK!!! the BMW emblem from the front of my X5 flew off and struck my windshield. I was driving thank God. My wife screamed what was that...I am looking at the BMW emblem under my driver side windshield wiper...(I guess that was Lucky) it got stuck under the wiper and I was able to stop and get it. I thought for sure it would have cracked the window...but it didn't.

Got out the old Gorilla Glue and glued it back on...but since I have to take the car into the dealer for my SES light...(that is on another post) I am going to get them to take care of this too...

I love the way the X drives...and more importantly the wifey loves it but come on...OK Rant over...

It's one of those "maintenance items" that didn't make the list...or, CPO.

Mine came off the other day while driving too. Apparently the Florida heat got to it. Took 2 minutes to change out i used the plastic ties that are used to secure shipping boxes and worked it under the roundel that was left which pulled it straight off and plugged the new one in

I don't know how long the glue takes to set but I would try to remove it if it hasn't set yet.

Reason being... the plastic emblem itself can easily be put back with new gromits; however, when the "paint" comes out of the plastic emblem you will need to remove it again, and if it is hard set by then I forsee some paint damage removing it.

The metal part was still on the car. The actual BMW plastic symbol is what came out. It was held down by a glue or a double sided tape. So the glue should be no problem. If the metal part had hit the windshield I am sure it would have cracked the window.

Thanks for the tip though.
