Question about DSC?

My question is when is DSC on and off? Is it on all the time or do you put it on?

it is always on, to turn it off, press the button, to turn on DTC hold the button for 10 seconds. ABS is always on though.

DSC includes DTC. As noted above, it is always on. There are no lights on the dashboard unless it is malfunctioning. When you push the button once, DSC is turned off, but DTC remains on (and the indicator light on the dashboard is telling you that you are in DTC-only mode now)

ohh I see how that works. But now I held the button for 10 seconds (how the guy before said) and now when I click the button the light on the dash wont come on anymore. Do you know what could be wrong?

Yes the explanation mark is explaining that you have the DSC off. And to check your manual for details.

Personally, I don't think that holding the button for 10 seconds changes anything on the X5 (it used to on our 325xi though). It has long been reported on various internet forums as an undocumented 'third mode' but I think this is more myth than fact. I could be wrong, but it didn't perform any differently after 10 seconds on my X5. To reset it just turn the key off and back on.
