new x5 owner with problems .. battery draining..

Hi guys iv recently bought an 2004 x5 diesel iv already had few problems which have been fixed , but my lastest problem is that if i dont use the car for 2 days or so the battery will be flat. iv had aa man out and hed checked battery etc, and we found that iv got ampage drain from something once car is locked up. any ideas or is it a case of pulling fuses etc. really given me a headache already this car. if it helps iv already unplugged the engine pre heater because id though that was draining it first but it still went flat. please help thanks.

Do you happen to have the BMW phone kit installed (I don't think Blue Tooth was standard on your year)?

We had the same problem. BMW has a computer they left it hooked up to over night (after 3 different dealerships). Turned out to be the fan relay and the trunk lid module. Kept opening the trunk and closing it all night. Combination was killing the battery.

Kept wondering why my trunk was unlatched some mornings!!

Best of luck.

i also had the same problem and it turned out that my aftermarket stereo was draining the battery even though it was off, if that makes any sense. Also check your bootlid if properly shut, i double-check by peeping through the small corner windows at the rear to make sure the boot lights are off

If you have a Motorola V60 phone in the BMW cradle, make sure the phone has the BMW software. The software ensures the phone powers off when the car is turned off. Although any V60 will work in the cradle, without the software it will flatten the battery very quickly.
