Dead battery problem

Hi all, I just left my DR.s office, when we got back out to the car, the battery was dead. I got it jumped, it started, then as I am on my way home the brake light was on, the trans would not shift out of whatever gear it was in, and the 4x4 override was on.

Whats going on with it?

Any advice is welcome.....

It's pretty common for it to go nuts after a jump start,tons of threads like yours on this forum.

Thanks I searched and read 30 some posts, nothing gives me a fix?????

Usually it was a disconnecting the battery for at least 20 min...
Once I could barely start the X...cranked,but slow,and started and I've got all the lights + all the letters of gears selector P R N D lit up....
so,I plug the reverse and it jerks like if I was hit by something..so I go back to P and let it idle for 5 min.
I halt it and re crank,starts smooth and no lights,gears engaging perfectly.
I read here about the battery disconnecting...get it done.
and think about that power drain pin pointer,otherwise you'll kill the battery,unless your battery is old and it's the cause itself.

OK ive done the battery DQ and still the same thing. The only thing I have not tried is turning the wheel lock to lock.

Any other ideas?

And yes I did read about an additional 30 to 40 posts this time!

Did you start and drive?

Just on the way home last night.... It was in (assuming) 3rd gear and never changed gears.
