airbag warning light?

Have an airbag warning light that my Idaho dealer thinks may be due to frayed wiring. Did not get a chance to have him look into it as I was scheduled for my trip back east. No error code, but then I don't have an obc anymore since hooking up the Alpine INA-W900BT. And no, the install had nothing to do with the warning light as far as Alpine & the installer could figure out. Any ideas? Am scheduled to have my Indy here in SC to look at it on Wed.

okay, my Indy told me all he had to do was reset the warning light. Seems my model (2001 X5 4.4 sport) has a 2 stage airbag warning light. Evidently the dealer had reset the 1st stage, and now my Indy reset the 2nd stage. No more warning light.

What? That doesn't make sense....... there is no such thing as "stage 1 light, stage 2 light", just an airbag light. Maybe he saw a fault for stage 2 of an airbag as drivers and passengers front airbags are 2 stage bags...

okay, I plead guilty of not understanding what I was told. Dealer had reset the warning light, but it had come back on when I had started it up the 2nd time. Factor into this the fact I had just had the Alpine install and lost the obc with the removal of the 16:9 nav screen. So no one was positive what could have caused the light, especially when it came back on. The reset my Indy did here in SC seems to be holding so far.
