Need help on replacing front turning light

(2003, X5) My front left side turning light is gone, makes side and rear lights flash twice faster. I could not find easy access to the light socket, and realized that it is not an easy job to replace it after google on the internet. I found some articles describe the process, but still could not figure out how to remove two 8mm bolts underneath the headlight assembly, some post suggested to remove the head light trim, other showed pictures pulling out assembly without removing trim, but no explanation,... Anybody can provide a little more detail about this? Thanks a lot in advance!
