This is weird
just got in my X this morning to go to work, turned the ignition key to start the motor, got to the first position and was aware of the rear screen wiper coming on, huh car starts as normal, check the rear view mirror to back out of driveway, and noticed the rear wiper had done a half wipe and was now standing vertical (perfectly up and down centre of screen)
tried turning it on to send it back to home position, nothing no motor operation, tried the washer yep ok, tried the front wipers, ok to i havent had time to look further, as i,m now at work. is this a known fault?? is it trying to tell me something?? any thoughts or comments appreciated oh its a 2005 3.0d |

ok fixed.
the wiper arm is contacting the centre brake light as it sweeps the glass i dont know why it came on then i first started the car, maybe i inadvertently knocked the stalk forward when i got out, who knows. there is a scuff mark visible on the middle brake light, as the arm hits, it must have sensed the extra load and shut down?????? i moved it slightly away from the contact point and turned the ign. on and it did a full sweep back to home position, i dont see where the problem is as the wiper arm looks original , however i have recently had the blades replaced, maybe the new one is slightly longer another job for the weekend |
