Please help with me with pairing my mobile phone..

Hi all,

I have trawled through the forum for answers and i still can not pair my phone with the car.
I have a 2005 3.0d X5 with sat nav and tv.

I have tried pressing the button in the centre arm rest and hold it for 3 seconds and so on...as it states in the manual, this doesnt work!

I have tried the R/T button too and this doesnt work! I have tried with the seat belt on , with engine running and off, but still nothing! My phone still says 'No new paired devices' my phone is a Nokia 5800 music express.

I honestly dont know what to do, can anyone help me?

Many thanks,

Roy.

IIRC you have to make your phone discoverable then turn the key on the x5 to p1 and wait until the phone asks for the code that came with your car.

I can scan the section from the manual tomorrow if this evening you don't get a final answer.

edit: you do know for sure you have a BT module installed?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have the manual thanks and have followed it through. I have also tried this too, but still nothing! How do I find out if my car has BT?
Thanks,
Roy.

Take off the cover in trunk that is in front of the nav, peer down into the space under the nav bracket and there should be a silver colored module that (from memory) is about 5x2x10 inches mounted diagonally on the DSP amp housing.

I have tread in nav section that has a picture showing it.

I added two photos on apr 11, the second one shows the bt module reasonably well.

FWIW I had a real game with mine when I changed BB's.
Are you getting as far as entering the code?
Has it worked with a previous mobile and if so, have you tried the disable devices routine?

In the end, I had the Dealer 'wipe' the phone memory as it wouldn't upload the address book etc
HTH,
Simon

Try pulling the fuse for a minute on the phone cct ( rear compartment ). Once I did this it seemed to reset the Bluetooth setup to allow pairing.

As I recall there is a directory on the cover of the fuse box ? # 16 sticks in my mind but not 100 % sure - rear storage area / right side
